Hi everyone,
Some of you may know the brand Cornilleau which manufactures really good indoor and outdoor tables (both for leisure and competition) and also bats for the leisure player.
About 2 years ago, they have launched a serie of bats called Tacteo produced in collaboration with Michelin (for the rubber). These were for "sunday games in the country".
It looks like they have been working a lot on competition equipment and in the coming weeks (I don't exactly know when the products will be launched on the market), Cornilleau will offer the competition player
4 rubbers : Pilot Advance 46° - Pilot Power 32.5° - Pilot style 38° allround - Pilot control 40° allrounder control
4 blades : Cornilleau Hinotec Off + Carbon - Cornilleau Hinotec Off - Cornilleau Hinotec Off - Cornilleau Hinotec All +
First two rubbers have speed glue effect, the 2 others I don't know.
A bunch of french players have tested the rubbers and they come to the same conclusion : Cornilleau has produced rubbers superior to any tensor rubber on the market today. I will translate here under the comments of a player who tested for 2 hours this combinaition : FH : Pilot Power 2mm - BH: Pilot advance 2mm - Blade: Hinotec off.
Blade is about 80-85gr, made of Hinoki, contact is "hard''; very good speed and great control, it looks like the handle is hollow or filled with som'g (foam??). A nice offensive blade.
Pilot Power is harder than Pilot Advance. Theses rubber are not different from todays tensors because they have more speed or give more spin; the difference comes from the control and feeling you have when playing. The quality of the top sheet is extremely high, way higher than any german of japan made rubber and will guarantee a better durability than the actual tensors.
Pilot Power is quite fast, allowing to send rocketlike top spins with huge spin. The balls is loaded with energy and bounces to the opponent's face. There's a little Klick when you hit the ball.
Pilot Advance. 2 meters away from the table, I have been able to throw top spins and counter topspins which I could not do before with my equipment. I was amazed by the amount of spin the rubber could generate, amazed also by the power and control of the Advance. The rubber really is dynamic when attacking; in "passive" rallies, no problems either, you can play no spin balls with great control, placing the ball where you want and as soon as you accelerate, the rubber explodes.
All in all, I am super thrilled with what Cornilleau is offering today. Some may think I am overreacting but I have not experienced anything similar before. Because of these great sensations I only want to do one thing : play again and again.
Hope this translation will give you a bit more insight into these Cornilleau novelties. When there's a launch date on the market, I'll keep you guys posted.
So far there's nothing on Cornilleau's website (http://www.cornilleau.com) but I guess they will have info soon. You can still visit it and you'll see that Jean Philippe Gatien is aging well... and has grey hair now!
Cheers,
MaMan
